COUNSELLORS (all referred to as
"Therapists" throughout this website):
- ALL potential
volunteers are interviewed by the General Manager.
- The purpose of
the interview is to ensure that they have the maturity, confidentiality, commitment and
ability to work with vulnerable clients.
- All our
therapists are fully qualified and insured. Copies of their
qualifications and insurance certificates are requested and retained in our
records.
- At least one
reference is required for each therapist (e.g. a tutor from their therapy
course).
RECEPTIONISTS:
- ALL potential
volunteers are interviewed by the General Manager.
- Two personal
references are required for these positions.
- Training is
in-house and all volunteers are required to respect the confidentiality of
the clients at all times.
- Often
our volunteers are already known to the Centre. These may be
ex-clients or other caring people who are able to offer empathy, compassion and understanding,
and are friendly and welcoming to the clients.
Currently The Centre has about 50 healers,
therapists and counsellors, and 7 receptionists, volunteering their time to the Centre.
